Overview
Monitoring the introduction of the vaccine and evaluating its impact is essential to maternal influenza vaccination programs. Monitoring and evaluation incudes tracking vaccine administration, measuring immunization coverage, estimating the impact of the immunization program on disease burden, conducting surveillance for and investigating adverse events following immunization (AEFI), and post-introduction evaluation.
This module reviews each of these areas and provides resources for conducting these activities.
By the end of this module you should be able to:
- Explain activities that can be used to measure immunization coverage,
- List resources available to understand the burden of disease,
- Describe the objectives of adverse event following immunization (AEFI) surveillance and investigation,
- Explain the purpose of post-introduction evaluation (PIE).
